Metzger to quit Sentosa
Darrell Metzger is stepping down as chief executive of Singapore’s Sentosa Island to pursue new challenges.
Metzger, who joined Sentosa in February 2002, recently welcomed and Genting International successful bid to develop and operate the S$5.2-billion Resorts World at Sentosa.
“Although we are sad to see him leave, this is not an inappropriate time for Darrell to hand over the baton as we have achieved a major milestone of receiving 5.3 million visitors,” said Sentosa’s chairman Philip Ng.
He added, “We have almost fully completed our investment phase with nearly 75 per cent of Sentosa Cove sold and only two small hotel plots remaining. The future of Sentosa looks very bright as the island is well on the path to success and all major construction expected to be completed by 2010.”
Metzger will be leaving Singapore by mid-April 2007 to join a private Dubai-based company that is developing large-scale leisure lifestyle projects in the Middle East.
A global search for a new chief executive of Sentosa will be initiated, a process that is expected to take three to six months.
