Mexico resort tourism officials team up to establish new Quintana Roo Tourism Board
Tourism bodies in some of Mexico’s most popular vacation hotspots have joined forces to create a unified tourism board for the state of Quintana Roo.
The new Quintana Roo Tourism Board will represent the destinations of Cancun, Cozumel, Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen, Holbox , Isla Mujeres and Tulum.
While each will maintain its unique identity, the new organization will pool their resources to create strategic marketing, advertising, and PR campaigns targeting the US to ‘promote the natural beauty, history, eco-adventure and off-the-beaten-path experiences of Quintana Roo to both leisure and business travelers alike,’ it said in a release.
Former director of the Riviera Maya and Cozumel Tourism Boards Dario Flota Ocampo will lead the Quintana Roo Tourism Board.
The new body said 16.9 million visitors traveled to Cancun and the Riviera Maya in 2017, which is up 5.3% from last year.
