MFS Director appointed to Tourism Australia Board

Tourism Australia has announced that MFS Living and Leisure Executive Director Peter O’Brien has been appointed to the Tourism Australia board, with the announcement welcomed by the industry.

Mr O’Brien is Managing Director, Developments, of Oceanis Holdings, one of the world’s largest aquarium developers and operators, which is owned by MFS Living and Leisure, with Oceanis including Underwater World at Mooloolaba and the Melbourne Aquarium.

Mr O’Brien, who will take up his position from August 6, has previously worked with the Victorian Tourism Industry Council and consulted to the Sydney Olympics.

Federal Tourism Minister Fran Bailey yesterday described Mr O’Brien as an excellent strategist and Australian Tourism Export Council managing director, Matthew Hingerty, said Mr O’Brien would provide a valuable contribution to Tourism Australia from a practical, business perspective, adding, “It is important that the Tourism Australia board contains a good balance between government and business”.
