Michelin mounts online hotel booking challenge
Michelin Group’s online travel assistance website ViaMichelen has developed a hotel booking service.
Almost 40,000 independent and branded properties in Europe are featured on the www.ViaMichelin.com site.
The portfolio includes a proportion exclusively drawn from the Michelin travel guide. The company claims this is the first time an online booking service has offered access to this selection of hotels.
The site features a dedicated search box enabling users to explore the 30 closest hotels to their destination according to their arrival date and length of stay. A three step procedure takes users through the selection and booking process.
The booking service is offered in five languages and covers more than 40 countries in Europe.
The website claimed 26 million visits across Europe in August, a rise of 118% year-on-year.
Chairman and managing director Alain Cuq claimed: “ViaMichelin stands apart thanks to our simple three-click process and our exclusive access to a large selection of estblishments endorsed in the Michelin Guide.”
