Middlesex travel agent collapses
The Civil Aviation Authority is looking into the collapse of a travel agent based in Middlesex.
Britain Travel Ltd, which held an ATOL since June 7, 2013, sold both ATOL protected Flight-Only bookings and non- ATOL protected flight tickets through its IATA membership.
The CAA said that although airlines normally honour scheduled tickets once issued, it understands that some airlines are not accepting tickets issued by Britain Travel Ltd.
The authority said it has not yet been unable to obtain any booking information from Britain Travel Ltd or its appointed administrator and, as a result, cannot determine which consumers are protected by the ATOL scheme and which are not.
Customers were advised to check their booking documents for an ATOL certificate as evidence of ATOL protection.
