Mirvac Hotels & Resorts has continued its Aussie expanison programme by the acquisition of Carlton Crest’s Australian hotels in Brisbane, Sydney, Parramatta and Melbourne, the hotels becoming part of the Mirvac group from today.
The newly acquired 4 ½ and 4 star properties are being re-branded under The Sebel and Citigate brands and will also undergo extensive refurbishment program to bring them in line with Mirvac’s range of brands
Andrew Turner, Mirvac Hotels & Resort’s CEO said that the acquistions added 1,265 rooms to the Mirvac portfolio and illustrate the strong position Mirvac currently holds in the hotel market, and an exciting period of growth for the division.
Following the acquisition of the Carlton hotel portfolio, Mirvac Hotels & Resorts will be one of Australia’s largest hotel operators having grown in the last 12 months from 26 to almost 40 properties and over 5000 guestrooms, suites, villas and apartments in Australia and New Zealand and are well advanced with plans to expand in the South Pacific.
“We will be embarking upon an immediate and significant refurbishment program of the 4 Carlton Crest hotels which will enable them to fall in line with our well established Sebel and Citigate brands. Our strong brand presence in the hotel market, combined with our renowned quality, service and well structured sales force allows us to provide a range of excellent accommodation, meeting and conferencing facilities, and dining options that are second to none in Australasia.”
The new properties include a Sebel (4 ½ star) and Citigate (4 star) branded hotel in each of the major capital cities of Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne as follows: The Sebel Parramatta, The Sebel Albert Park Melbourne and The Sebel King George Square Brisbane as well as Citigate Central Sydney, Citigate Albert Park Melbourne and Citigate King George Square Brisbane.
Mirvac Hotels & Resorts currently owns and/or manages almost 40 hotels throughout Australia and New Zealand under brands including Quay Grand, The Como, Quay West Suites & Resorts, Sea Temple Resorts & Spas, Cairns International Hotel, Sydney Marriott Hotel, Sebel Hotels & Resorts, The Sebel Residence and Citigate Hotels.
