Mobile bookings on the increase
Outdoor accommodation specialist Pitchup.com is reporting mobile bookings up by 655% in the past year.
The company says 58% of traffic now comes through handheld devices, as a result of the launch a year ago of a bookable iPhone app and mobile website, followed by apps for android devices.
In the past year, overall sales through the Pitchup.com site have grown 152%.
In the same timescale, it recorded 7.5 million visits, overtaking established industry players such as Eurocamp, Parkdean, Park Resorts and Park Holidays, according to statistics from global website ranking company Alexa.
Since its launch five years ago – initially as a searchable directory – over 464,000 customers have travelled on a holiday booked via Pitchup.com.
