Monarch shakes up winter services from Leeds-Bradford
Monarch is taking Alicante and Barcelona services year round from Leeds-Bradford this winter.
The routes, which were previously summer only, will both continue operating from November and through the winter months.
The airline is also increasing frequencies on these routes from mid February. Alicante will go from one to three flights a week and Barcelona from two to three.
Tony Hallwood, aviation development director for Leeds Bradford International Airport, said Monarch’s decision to take the routes year round was good news for holidaymakers and for homeowners in the two key destinations.
In addition, Monarch is starting summer flights early to Larnaca, Menorca and Majorca in 2016. Instead of starting in May, the routes will begin in April.
It is also adding a third weekly flight from Leeds-Bradford to Tenerife, and a fourth to Majorca.
But it has dropped winter routes from Leeds-Bradford to Las Palmas, Arrecife and Grenoble.
