Monarch to launch new routes
Monarch Scheduled today becomes the latest carrier to offer low-cost flights to the continent with the launch of daily services to Lisbon and Granada.
The airline claimed it will be the first genuinely low cost flight to the Portuguese capital since the route was axed when Easyjet bought Go in 2000.
“For the past few years, travellers to Lisbon have had no choice other than to pay high fares,” said Monarch Scheduled managing director Tim Jeans. “Now they can take advantage of flights from as little as £39 one way.”
He estimated the move will generate an additional 50,000 visitors to the city while the Granada route will further strengthen its links with Andalucia.
