Monterey nixes in-port cruise ship calls
Monterey, California cruise calls are likely coming to an end.
The City Council voted to end city services for cruise ships.
It stops short of an outright cruise ship ban but sends a clear message that they are not welcome in Monterey.
City officials have said cruise ship visits endanger the environment.
Monterey Bay is home to a large marine sanctuary.
The decision means cruise passengers can still visit but only if ships tender offshore.
Cruise lines would now have to organise their own boats and pay for workers to process cruise guests.
