More Amsterdam flights cancelled due to further strike action
Passengers have been warned to expect further disruption to flights to Amsterdam today following yesterday’s widespread cancellations.
Airlines were forced to cancel dozens of flights to Schiphol on Tuesday due to a public transport strike, which brought almost all rail, bus and ferry services to a standstill.
The airport ordered airlines to ground flights to prevent traffic congestion as passengers were forced to take taxis or Ubers to and from the airport.
Passengers were told not to travel yesterday unless absolutely necessary.
And today, security staff will go on strike at Schiphol, potentially causing further disruption.
Flybe, which cancelled more than 30 flights to and from Amsterdam from UK regional airports and London City on Tuesday, has cancelled two flights between Amsterdam and Southampton today.
EasyJet said it was planning to operate a full schedule, but it is advising passengers departing from Amsterdam to allow extra time to go through security. However, check in and bag drop times are not being extended. It said passengers should check its flight tracker before travelling to the airport.
