Four Britons died in the Christchurch earthquake, the Foreign Office has revealed, with a further three injured.
With 148 deaths now registered in the 6.3 quake, the FCO yesterday revised its estimate that two Brits had died.
One victim was Gregory Tobin, a 25-year-old chef who was on a round-the-world trip. The other names have not been released.
Two more Brits, a male tourist and a woman who had settled in the region, both aged over 50, were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Another British woman was taken to hospital having suffered a heart attack.
A British search and rescue team has been working at the disaster scene over the weekend, with more help expected to arrive from the UK today.
