More Brits staying with friends and family, finds SeaFrance poll
Almost 30% of Brits who have already booked a holiday are intending to stay with friends and family abroad, according to a poll by SeaFrance Dover-Calais Ferries.
The survey of 388 SeaFrance past passengers, conducted in February 2009, found 23% of those not yet booked are also planning to stay with friends and family.
When the same question was asked three years ago, the figure was only 12%.
The poll found over 80% of UK residents are still planning to holiday abroad in 2009, with only 12% planning to stay in the UK and 16% likely to take three breaks or more.
A third are still planning to take at least two breaks and 16% taking three.
Only 5% of those surveyed were anticipating not being able to travel at all this year and just 4% were avoiding the eurozone due to the fallen exchange rate.
