Most Americans plan summer vacations
Who says Americans never take vacations?
More than half or 54% in a Harris poll said they planned a summer vacation this year.
But it all depends on your age.
The older generation, Matures (those aged 62 and older), are least likely to take a vacation, especially when compared to Baby Boomers (those 43 to 61).
Four in 10 Matures (42%) will not take a vacation this summer versus 34% of Baby Boomers.
These vacations are not only domestic; one in ten adults will be traveling internationally.
Among those who are taking vacations this summer, one-third will be spending more than they did last year while two in five will be spending about the same and 17% will be spending less.
A majority of those taking a vacation this summer or just more than half will be visiting friends and family. One-third said they will take a scenic trip while three in 10 will take a beach vacation.
