Most flights to Darwin late

Saturday, 24 Jan, 2008 0

An ABC report says that most domestic flights in and out of Darwin are late, according to the latest figures.

Two thirds of Jetstar services between Melbourne and Darwin leave and arrive at least 15 minutes after the scheduled time.

And 58 per cent of Virgin Blue flights are late landing in Darwin.

Both airlines do better on the route between Brisbane and Darwin but only 43.3 per cent of Virgin Blue flights arrive in Darwin from the Queensland capital within the national benchmark times.

The Federal Transport Department survey is voluntary and only conducted on routes serviced by at least two airlines.

Tiger Airways hasn’t joined the survey.
