MSC Cruises reveals name of second Seaside ship

Friday, 04 Jul, 2016 0

MSC Cruises’ second Seaside-generation ship will be named MSC Seaview. The ship, due to come into service in June 2018, will spend its inaugural season in the Western Mediterranean, home-porting Genoa, Marseille and Barcelona.

Sales for the ship open today for MSC Voyagers Club members and on July 18 for all other guests.

CEO Gianni Onorato said: "Our Company’s heritage lies in the Mediterranean and it was only natural that MSC Seaview – our third next-generation smart ship – would be deployed in its historic and culture-rich waters."

MSC said Seaview was one of its ‘next-generation smart ships employing the latest technology available at sea’.

In partnership with technology firm Samsung, the ship will include:

* Near Field Communication (NFC), using a cruise card, bracelet or smartphone for a range of different options including geo-location of children, cabin access and onboard payment

* Interactive screens to select excursions as well as booking shows and restaurants

* iBeacon technology that is customised to each guests’ specific preferences to push information and offers to their smart phones
