MSC Cruises targets MICE with new appointment
MSC Cruises has appointed Elizabeth Lindsley Elwood as manager of corporate and incentive sales, North America as the cruise line looks to grow its incentive and meetings business.
Ellwood brings to this newly created position over 30 years’ experience in sales, customer service and marketing in the cruise and airline industries.
Previous roles include corporate sales manager a Celebrity Cruises, and Royal Caribbean International as manager of corporate and incentive sales.
She has also worked for Holland America Line, Windstar Cruises, and Northwest Airlines.
Ken Muskat, senior vice president of sales and marketing said MSC is looking to grow its year-round operations in North America and build awareness of MICE opportunities in its 12-ship fleet.
"Building relationships with corporate and incentive clients as well as developing strong ties with meeting and third-party travel partners is a strategic goal of MSC," Muskat said.
In December, the Focus on Cruises for Incentive Travel annual survey published by Site International Foundation, reported that just 5.9% of respondents would pick MSC Cruises as their first choice for corporate and incentive events.
Royal Caribbean came top of the poll with 46.5%.
