Mumbai debuts helicopter tours
Mumbai is now offering a new way to tour the city free from the constant gridlock.
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has debuted the Mumbai Darshan by Helicopter package in collaboration with private operator ParAir.
Chopper tours leave from Juhu Aerodrome and last for about 15 minutes flying on two different routes.
The north Mumbai route operates on Mondays and Saturdays and flies over Juhu, Versova, Malad, Gorai, Pagoda and Essel World.
The South Mumbai trip flies over Bandra-Worli Sea Link, Haji Ali and back, departing through the day on Tuesdays and Fridays.
"It is going to be a breathtaking experience as the helicopter will fly 1,000 feet above sea level," says IRCTC’s region director Virender Singh.
Singh said the helicopter trips may be extended to a daily service if demand is sufficient.
The aerial tour is priced at Rs 5,580 per person using a three-seater helicopter, Singh said.
