Myanmar granting VoA entry to six more countries
Myanmar will grant visa-on-arrival access for another six countries.
Starting from October 1, citizens from Australia, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Russia will be able to get visas on arrival for US$50 at Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw international airports.
"We hope the new regulations to ease access to Myanmar will lead to more travelers from around the world," said Daw May Myat Mon Win, chair of the Myanmar Tourism Marketing Association.
Myanmar has been steadily increasing VoA access for key inbound tourism markets.
Indian and Chinese nationals were granted VoA access last year along with Japan and South Korea.
Daw May says the Japan market has surged 24% so far this year as a result.
That equates to 82,000 Japanese tourists compared to 65,000 last year.
The Myanmar Tourism Marketing Association says tourist numbers are up an estimated 40% so far this year.
