NBA Global Games coming to Shenzhen
The Chinese city of Shenzhen will get its first taste of NBA action when the NBA Global Games China 2015 tips off in October.
The Charlotte Hornets and the Los Angeles Clippers will play two games in China, on October 11 at the Shenzhen Universiade Center, followed by a rematch in Shanghai on October 14 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
Apart from the two games off-court activities will take place such as NBA Cares community programs.
The program of events was announced in Shenzhen with NBA China CEO David Shoemaker and Deputy Director of Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ke Gangming.
This will be the second time the Clippers have made the trip to China after two games in Beijing and Shanghai in 2012.
The NBA established the NBA Global Games China in 2004 and it has been instrumental in growing the game there, with now over 300 million playing basketball on a regular basis.
“Basketball is more popular than ever, and Global Games China 2015 is part of our ongoing commitment to growing the game in the world’s most populous nation,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.
