NCL adds special Dover sailings
Norwegian Cruise Line is to bring a new ship to the UK for three special sailings.
The vessel Norwegian Jewel will run inaugural itineraries from Dover after being delivered from its shipyard in Germany.
The 92,000-ton vessel is to operate the three cruises next summer – covering the Mediterranean, Baltic and then a transatlantic crossing to New York.
The 2,400-passenger Norwegian Jewel will then be based in Miami offering Caribbean sailings next winter following four New England itineraries from New York.
The three itineraries departing from Dover are: 13-night Mediterranean Treasures (August 10), 12-night Baltic Capitals (August 23) and 14-night transatlantic Path of the Vikings (September 4).
Prices start at £1,499 for the 13-night Mediterranean trip, £1,399 for the Baltic cruise and £1,049 for the 14-night transatlantic voyage.
Norwegian Jewel, the 11th ship in the NCL fleet, will offer 10 restaurants including: Cagney’s Steak House, Le Bistro (French), Tango’s (Tapas), Chin Chin (Asian), Tsar’s Palace and Mama’s Italian Kitchen.
The new ship claims to have more interconnecting cabins for small or large families, a sports deck containing basketball, volleyball and tennis court and 10 new “villas” with a private courtyard and sundeck. The ship will feature a children’s club and pool and a Teen’s Club.
NCL UK general manager Stephen Park said: “The UK is a growing market for NCL, with more and more UK guests – singles, couples and families.
“We are absolutely delighted by the decision to offer these exclusive, UK-focused voyages out of Dover, reflecting the importance of the UK market to NCL and giving the UK the first look at our new ship.”
