Nearly five million seats during half-term holidays
Today, Friday 25 October is set to be the busiest day for departures over the half-term holiday period, according to the latest Cirium flight data.
It says there are 3,080 scheduled departures from UK airports, with many families jetting off on autumn breaks.
During the October half-term period, a total of 27,194 flights are scheduled to depart
This represents over 4.9 million seats.
Departures from UK airports during half-term remain 4% below the same period in 2019 when 28,351 flights were scheduled.
Cirium also says departures are down 3% compared to October half-term 2023, as post-pandemic demand plateaus.
The most popular international destinations departing the UK are Amsterdam, Dublin, Alicante, Paris and Malaga, Spain.
EasyJet is projected to be the largest airline during the holiday period, followed by British Airways, Ryanair and Jet2.
London Heathrow Airport will see the largest number of departures, followed by London Gatwick, Manchester, London Stansted, and Edinburgh.
