New boss for Future Travel
Sheena Darby has been named head of homeworking travel agency group Future Travel.
She is promoted from her previous role as commercial and marketing manager from today (Monday).
Darby reports to Co-operative Travel Group’s distribution director Alistair Rowland, who previously headed the homeworking division prior to the merger between the travel operations of United Co-operatives and The Co-operative Group earlier this year.
Future Travel, which has almost 600 travel advisers, plans to grow the network by at least 100 in the next 12 months.
Darby said: “2008 will be a pivotal year for Future Travel as we look to achieve significant progress in our financial performance.
“Homeworking is a highly competitive market place and I will be working closely with the management team to ensure that we remain the number one homeworking business in the UK.”
Rowland said: “I’m especially pleased to be able to announce Sheena’s appointment, as she was the outstanding candidate following an extensive recruitment process both internally and externally.
“She has extensive knowledge of our organisation through her previous role within Future and this experience gives her a clear understanding of the pivotal strategic role that she will play in leading the management team to an even stronger performance in the coming years.”
