A former boss of Bournemouth airport has been named managing director of Luton airport.

Glyn Jones joins from pallet distribution network Palletline, where he has been managing director since 2003. Before that he was managing director at Bournemouth airport after being commercial director at Hays DX and DHL.

He takes up his new role on August 8.

Jones replaces Angel Lerma, who has been an interim managing director since Katherine James left earlier in the year. Lerma takes up the position of group operations director for parent company TBI-Abertis Airports.

Demetrio Ullastres, chairman of TBI, said: “Glyn is a business man having an excellent CV with experience at senior levels in transport, logistics and airport management. He is well equipped to lead the team through the next phase of our development.”

Jones said: “London Luton Airport is entering a new phase in its development. We now have transatlantic flights in addition to our wide range of European destinations routes. I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues as we continue to provide enhanced services to both the travelling public and the airlines which use our airport.”
