New boss for Tourism Australia
Geoff Buckley has been made managing director of Tourism Australia, moving up from acting boss.
Buckley was formerly strategy and research director for the tourist office.
He also held senior positions with Tourism New South Wales and the Sydney Olympic Park Authority.
Tourism Australia chairman Tim Fischer said: “This appointment follows a lengthy process by the board of Tourism Australia involving a careful consideration of the very strong field of candidates from within Tourism Australia and also those external to Tourism Australia.
“With more than 20 years of experience in tourism and his strong research background, Geoff was the outstanding candidate to lead Tourism Australia.
“The board of Tourism Australia was impressed with his professionalism, strategic thinking and attention to detail as the acting managing director.”
