New British-themed Bmi lounge has pub and Aga

Tuesday, 03 Jun, 2009 0

Bmi has opened its new lounge at Heathrow Terminal One featuring a pub, an Aga and original art work, all with a British theme.

Bmi Number One Heathrow is open to the airline’s business class, diamond club (gold and silver) and Star Alliance gold customers travelling to Bmi international destinations.
The lounge is above Gate 5 in Terminal 1. It has no reception, instead passengers are welcomed in by floating staff, and great views of the runway. A study offers desk seating and a boardroom style table with free wifi.
The café is focused on a custom-made black Aga where hot food is available around the clock. Evening flight passengers can now get a hot meal before take off and get ready to sleep as soon as they take off.
The lounge also has The Local, a pub environment where customers sit in a leather-buttoned horseshoe shaped bar and have a pint of Fuller London Pride or English rose.
Featured artwork is by award-winning graduate of the Royal Academy of Art Phil Shaw.
