New chairman appointed at youtravel.com

A new chairman has been named for accommodation only firm youtravel.com

Niels Andersen takes up the position in place of Nigel Jenkins who stepped down at the end of last year due to family commitments.

Andersen is currently executive chairman of VectorCommand, a UK-based technology company serving emergency and security services.
 

He will be working with company founder and chief executive John Kent and group managing director Graham Nichols to continue the international growth of youtravel.com.

 
Andersen worked for McKinsey Consulting earlier in his career, followed by finance and executive director roles for several large multi-national comopanies.
 
More recently, he was responsible for major business transformation programmes in the BBC and Sainsbury’s.
 
Andersen has also been chairman of several smaller technology companies in the card industry, particularly smart cards, with clients like British Airways, Lufthansa and the large card providers.
 
Nichols said: “I have no doubt that Niels will add a great deal of insight and value to youtravel.com and I am delighted he is joining our team.
 
“We are approaching our third birthday and the business is at an exciting stage in its development, Niels will be a valuable part of the business moving forward.”
 
Andersen said: “Youtravel.com is an exciting international on-line provider to the travel industry and with my own broad international background I hope to be able to contribute to further significant expansion.”
