Chamonix is hoping to reduce queues this season thanks to lift improvements throughout the resort.
A new mini-funicular, currently under construction at Brevent, will give beginner skiers and snowboarders easy access to the Planpraz plateau and the Téléski 2000 poma from the Planpraz gondola station.
Called FUNI 2000, it works on the basis of a gondola-style cabin and is expected to transport between 250 to 290 people every hour.
Meanwhile, the new Melezes Chairlift in Les Houches will replace the ‘La Cha’ and the ‘Chamois’ draglifts, which have already been completely demolished.
The resort says the new chair will be faster, more efficient, safer and will slow right down at the top and bottom to make getting on and off a lot easier.
With a capacity of 2,000 people an hour, it will open up a completely new area for skiers.
This winter will also see the opening of a new Chamonix Snowpark, to right of the ‘Téléski du Col’ at Le Tour.
It will be served by a dedicated téléski and a four-person chairlift and situated between 1900 and 2100m. It will also have a ‘Cool Zone’ for relaxing, complete with sound-system.
For the first year ever the MONT-BLANC Unlimited pass will give skiers access to the Chamonix Valley, Courmayeur, and Evasion Mont-Blanc, which covers Megève, Saint Gervais, and Les Contamines.
