New reservations system for First Choice brands
A browser-based booking system is being adopted by two brands within the First Choice independent travel division.
Car hire arm Suncars and holiday add-ons unit First4xtras are to implement BlueSky Travel Systems’ itour reservations system.
The system is based on Oracle technology and enables companies to monitor booking patterns and tailor individual requests. It is in use by Mark Warner and is soon to be adopted by Stein Travel.
Independent travel division managing director Kyle Haughton said: “With the current industry move towards more dynamic packaging and component-based pricing, we wanted a scaleable system in place that enables us and our partners to sell inventory in the most effective way possible and as the customer requires.
“This system will ultimately be of great benefit to agents as well, in that they will be able to access all our products and efficiently earn commission in the process.”
BlueSky managing director Steve Driscoll claimed that itour allowed companies to implement competitive-based pricing and packaging, tailored to individual travellers’ needs.
“It supports multi-channel growth and has been designed to effectively support external third-party online bookings,” he said.
“The partnership with First Choice independent travel is all part of a conscious move to widen itour’s applicability across a number of key areas in the travel and leisure market.”
