New Sabre EMEA chief announced
Sabre Pacific chief executive Martin Cowley is moving to Europe to head the company’s EMEA region.
He becomes senior vice-president for Europe, Middle East and Africa on July 1 replacing Richard Adams, who has chosen to leave the company “to pursue other oppotunities,” Sabre said. Adams had been in the position since October 2003.
At the same time, former UK, Ireland and Scandinavia vice-president Reet Wiseman is to take charge of a new specialist agency division.
Wiseman will support a new enhanced self-service model for specialist agencies, according to Sabre.
“By having a team dedicated to the management and success of sabre Travel Network’s smaller, specialist travel agency customers, the company expects to boost service levels still further and grow its share of this important customer sector,” a statement said.
Mario Cardone will add the UK and Ireland to his responsibilities in southern Europe and France in a new Western Europe division focused on sales, marketing services and account management.
Anne Roesener, will add Scandinavia to her territory in central and Eastern Europe to create a Northern, Central and Eastern Europe division.
Before joining Sabre, Cowley spent 20 years with the Swire Group holding a variety of executive positions mainly with Cathay Pacific and was the airline’s alliances general manager.
