New startup Pasifika Air suspends launch
Plans for a new startup airline offering direct flights from New Zealand to the Cook Islands have hit turbulence. Cook Islands businessman Mike Pero planned to launch Pasifika Air but has now postponed it due to delays in establishing a two-way quarantine free travel bubble.
Pasifika Air had planned to fly from Wellington and Christchurch. Plans to launch the airline are now on hold.
"It is difficult to negotiate with aircraft lease companies when you have no certainty on border reopening dates," Pero said.
