New western style group trips for adventurous women

Saturday, 01 Mar, 2012 0

AdventureWomen Inc., which terms itself the oldest worldwide adventure travel company for active women over the age of 30, is offering a selection of western "Girlfriend Getaways" as part of its 30th anniversary this year.

These women-only adventure vacations feature outdoor adventure activities, wildlife viewing, and historical and cultural highlights in destinations like Alaska, Montana, Banff National Park, and Glacier National Park

One example is the Alaska Bear Viewing and Safari trip.

Participants fly by bush plane to Alaska’s Bear Camp for two days of grizzly bear viewing. Travelers can watch for humpbacks, Orcas, and sea lions while taking a wildlife cruise from Seward, Alaska, in Kenai Fjords National Park. They also take a rafting float trip on the Kenai River through Alaska’s scenic Kenai National Wildlife Refuge.

The site says it includes luxury accommodations and "hearty fare" food. The trip is June 16-23. The cost is $3995.

Other western trips include horseback riding, hiking, ziplining and fly-fishing.
