New Year Honour for WTM chair Fiona Jeffery
World Travel Market chair Fiona Jeffery has been appointed OBE in the New Year Honours list in recognition of her services to the travel and tourism industry.
In 1998 Jeffery founded Just a Drop water aid charity as a way to encourage travel and tourism companies to give back to the world by helping reduce child mortality caused by unsafe water.
Jeffery also helped to launch the Arabian Travel Market in 1992, later taking over as chair of the World Travel Market.
Jonathan Jones, director of tourism and marketing for the Welsh Government was appointed CBE by the Queen in the New Year Honours List.
Willy Bauer, founder of AB Hotels and Amanda Thompson, managing director of the Pleasure Beach in Blackpool, were both also appointed an OBE.
Chrisopher Farnaby, head of operations (Aerodromes) at the Civil Aviation Authority, was made an MBE for services to aviation safety.
