New York attempts to calm fears as it confirms Ebola case
A New York doctor has become the first in the city to test positive for Ebola.
Craig Spencer, 33, is believed to have contracted the disease while working in Guinea, west Africa, for a medical charity.
His apartment in Harlem has been sealed off, he is in an isolation ward and three people he was in close contact with have been placed in quarantine – one in hospital.
Authorities are in the process of tracking down those who came into recent contact with him, according to Sky News.
He is the fourth confirmed person in the US to have the disease.
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio attempted to calm fears and said Ebola was not easy to catch.
He said: "Travelling on the same subway car … does not … put someone at risk."
