New York City plans to offer free Covid jabs to tourists
New York City has a new idea to attract tourists back to the Big Apple – vaxications.
It plans to offer free vaccines to visitors to spur inbound tourism.
It will offer one shot Johnson and Johnson vaccines and tourists won’t have to waste a day of sightseeing to get a jab.
Mobile vaccination vans will be situated at Times Square, Brooklyn Bridge Park and other popular locations, according to NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio.
"We think this is a positive message to send to tourists. Come here and we’re going to take care of you."
The city is rolling out a $30 million marketing campaign to lure tourists back.
It comes as restriction ease further on restaurants, stores and live shows as more and more New Yorkers get inoculated.
The Mayor announced this week that Broadway show tickets are on sale again for shows that will restart in September with theaters permitted to sell at full capacity.
