New York JFK Airport Terminal 1 remains closed
Flights remain cancelled at New York JFK Airport due to a power outage.
The Port Authority said it was started by a small electrical fire early Thursday which has kept Terminal 1 closed.
Passengers have been taken to other terminals or rerouted to different airports.
Some flights have been cancelled altogether.
Terminal 1 hasn’t been able to accept any flights.
The airport said the terminal will remain closed on Friday.
“JFK Terminal 1 will remain closed as the Port Authority continues working to restore flight operations as quickly as possible,” the airport said.
It even led to a mammoth flight to nowhere.
An Air New Zealand flight was already eight hours en route to JFK when it had to turn back.
The Port Authority hasn’t indicated how long until full power is restored.
As of early Friday 29 flights were cancelled.
