New York TSA agent facing jail for swiping luxury watch
In another case of a Transportation Security Administration agent behaving badly, one security agent at New York’s JFK Airport is facing jail time after allegedly stealing a valuable watch from the screening area.
TSA screener Margo Louree-Grant took a diamond encrusted $7,000 watch left at security screening and took it to a restroom, prosecutors said, adding that the incident was caught on video.
On returning to her post, the agent panicked after seeing co-workers searching for the item, and admitted to destroying the watch, according to the NY Daily News.
She then quit her job and was charged with grand larceny and official misconduct, facing the possibility of up to seven years in prison.
"This kind of thievery will not be tolerated at our airports," said Queens district attorney Richard Brown.
Just days earlier a male TSA agent was arrested at New York’s LaGuardia Airport on suspicion of sexually assaulting a passenger in an airport restroom.
