No freeze on travel, says TIA
Americans will take 213.4 million “person-trips” this winter season, an increase of 2.3% over last winter, according to the Travel Industry Association of America. Their Travelometer forecast defined a “person-trip” as one person on one trip traveling 50 miles or more from home, one way. “Increased economic activity and a rise in consumer confidence are paving the way to a strong winter travel season,” said Suzanne Cook, senior VP for research for the TIA. She added a noticeable increase in business travel (3.7%) contributed to the growth in overall travel volume for the winter season. But leisure travel is also expected go grow by 2% this winter season, marking the first surge in winter travel since the attacks of 9/11,
