No hidden extras for Sabre’s hotel rates
Sabre Travel Network has introduced a new system for pricing hotels, so agents can see the full cost of a room including all taxes.
The product, called Hotel Total Pricing, has been launched in Europe. It means agents can quote the total price of any hotel stay including all taxes and surcharges across a range of days. Previously agents could only quote basic room rates.
A spoesman for Sabre told TravelMole: “The agents would have seen a daily rate before which didn’t include additional taxes and surcharges which vary country-to-country and market-to-market. It means the travel agents can tell the consumer the total price instead of letting travellers find out the extras when they get there. It alleviates the point of frustration for consumers.”
The product is only available for hotel chains that have signed up, which so far is the London-based chain
Supranational Hotels and Marriott Hotels. Sabre says that it is in the process of discussions with other hotel chains.
Sabre director of associate sales and service, Hamish Broom, said: “Calculating the true price of hotel accommodation is frequently difficult.”
