New Orleans-based RiverBarge Excursion Lines, which says it is America’s only floating hotel barge traveling inland waters, also has an unusual cruise policy: No tipping is allowed.

Also, all soft drinks, juice, tea and snacks are free.

The barge line is offering four-to-ten-excursions to six region’s at reduced prices in December.

States visited by the company include Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee and Illinois.

Trips start at New Orleans and include an overnight stay and a trip to the National World War II Museum.

The all-inclusive price for this Best Barging Buy excursion is $1,385 for the Royal Deck and $1,485 for the Platinum Deck. Prices are per person, based on double occupancy. Platinum Deck staterooms have a small balcony.

“Additionally, the Best Barging excursion includes a $50 Barge Bucks Booking Bonus in the form of an onboard per stateroom credit that may be used for alcohol and gift shop purchases. The line is offering a reduced single occupancy supplement from 25 to 50 percent,” the company says.

Excursion Lines, Inc. was built by barge expert Eddie Conrad to offer explorers the chance to see America differently.

“Today, the R/B River Explorer travels America’s rivers and inland waterways, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the regional culture and heritage of nearby towns and cities in a safe, relaxed and comfortable setting. A family atmosphere prevails during all excursions,” the company says.

Company boats are 730 feet long and 50-feet high.

Entertainment and shore activities include gospel choirs and some motor coach travel. There are also special programs for children.
