Northern welcome wins VisitBritain gold award
VisitBritain has been given a gold award for its efforts to improve the welcome and services provided to Chinese visitors to the North of England.
It received the award at the Chinese Tourist Welcome Awards 2016 held in Beijing yesterday.
VisitBritain said the award recognised the 260-plus tourism industry professionals from 70 organisations across the North who took part in its China Welcome Training programme from October 2015 to March 2016.
VisitBritain director Patricia Yates said: "China is the world’s largest outbound market and a huge tourism opportunity for Britain. We want to deliver a world-class experience for Chinese visitors, maximizing their spend and stay, to support our ambition of making Britain the most welcoming destination in Europe, so we are honoured to receive this endorsement of our work."
