Norwegian Cruise Line orders new ship
Norwegian Cruise Line has announced plans to build a new 4,200 passenger cruise ship, which will be delivered in October 2015.
It has also taken an option on a second ship to enter service in spring 2017.
The new 16,300 ton ship will be the largest in Norwegian’s fleet and it will incorporate many of the design elements and innovations of two Breakaway ships currently under construction and due to enter service in April 2013 and January 2014, said the company.
Meyer Werft, the shipyard which is constructing the line’s Breakaway and Getaway ships, will also be used to build the new ship.
Breakaway is scheduled for delivery in late April 2013 while Getaway will be launched in mid-January 2014. One will be based in New York and the other in Miami.
