Norwegian Gem cancels cruise due to technical issues
Norwegian Gem’s upcoming cruise out of New York City this weekend has been scrapped.
Norwegian cruise Line cites technical problems for the cancellation with propulsion issues to blame, restricting cruising speed.
In a message to trade partners it said: “Due to a technical malfunction with the ship’s Azipod propulsion system, Norwegian Gem’s speed is restricted from full capacity.
“In order to ensure the azipod’s technical issue is resolved, we will be cancelling Norwegian Gem’s cruise scheduled to depart from New York on November 11, 2017. Norwegian Cruise Line sincerely appreciates your understanding of this unexpected situation and apologizes for any inconvenience.”
All guest booked on the November 11 sailing will get a full refund plus a 50% credit for a future sailing.
In addition, NCL will cover any change fees imposed by airlines up to $300 per person.
