NTL finds success with broadband travel product
NTL Business (Travel Division) has signed up the first customer for its Broadband Travel Network.
The client is the West Midlands Co-op Travel, which plans to roll out the broadband product – catered specifically towards the travel industry – across its 23 high street branches and call centre.
It has taken both the Broadband Professional and Broadband Standard products, which will be completely installed by December. It replaces the West Midlands Co-op’s existing frame relay network.
The difference between the standard and professional products is the contention ratio, which is the number of users who are competing for bandwidth. Broadband Professional has a contention ratio of 4:1 and Broadband Standard has one of 20:1. The products also have different service level agreements.
A spokesman for the company said he could not comment on the cost of the broadband products because prices are quoted to customers on a case-by-case basis.
West Midlands Co-op Society chief executive, Ben Reid said he hoped the product would transform the company’s customer service through improving availability checking, researching and completion of bookings.
