NY lotto offering free in-state vacations
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has launched a new scratch-off lottery ticket offering in-state vacations worth up to $5,000 each.
The ‘I LOVE NY Cash and Travel’ lottery ticket will be available for sale this fall and offers prizes including 15 different trips to one of five vacation regions – New York City, Adirondacks, Cooperstown, Finger Lakes or Niagara Falls up to a value of $5,000.
In addition the lottery ticket offers cash prizes of up to $25,000, and further chances to win one of 44 trips throughout the state during a draw of non-winning tickets.
Ticket holders can also win $25 of I LOVE NY merchandise.
It forms part of a major new campaign to showcase tourism throughout the state which kicked off at the weekend with the ‘Adirondack Challenge’ where state officials took part in outdoor pursuits such as white water rafting, hiking and fishing.
"The Adirondacks are truly one of New York’s crown jewels and I know that once people see them for themselves, they will fall in love and keep coming back," Cuomo said.
Cuomo also announced the launch of a new Adirondack Park trip planning website and mobile app to promote more visitation and a new I LOVE NY marketing push focusing on the great outdoors.
From August ads will be featured on New York buses showcasing outdoor adventure activities like canoeing and hiking.
The ads are targeted at New Yorkers and international visitors and will reach 20% of the New York City population every day.
