NYC hostel paving the way to hotel-like services?

Broadway Hotel & Hostel, which describes itself as New York City’s first boutique hostel, says it is now offering travelers more hotel-like amenities.

“Taking privacy and comfort to a new level, the Upper West Side hostel offers travelers a distinct combination of hotel-like amenities and spacious accommodations at affordable rates,” the hotel says in a news release.

The hotel illustrates how hostels are increasingly taking on hotel-like amenities to broaden their appeal.

All dormitory-style guestrooms now accommodate a maximum of two guests per room, opposed to quad occupancy or more, providing double the amount of space per guest.

Nightly rates start at USD$24 per person.

“We are taking the boutique hostel concept to the next level by adding more privacy and space, without losing the community atmosphere and sense of culture we created that our guests have come to know and love,” said Brandon Freid, vice president of acquisitions and operations at Impulsive Group, owner and operator of the Broadway Hotel & Hostel.

Broadway Hotel & Hostel continues to offer its signature amenities such as the state-of-the-art theatre room with plasma televisions, full kitchens complete with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, a library with a fireplace, plus high-speed Internet access and free Wi-Fi in the communal lobby lounge.

Unlike typical hostel living, all rates include daily housekeeping as well as complimentary linens, towels and blankets.

Catering to solo travelers, the property will pair female single travelers with other female companions, and likewise for men, upon request.
