OctopusTravel.com to offer rail bookings

Accommodation website OctopusTravel.com has launched a microsite for consumers to book rail travel.

The www.octopustravel-rail.com site covers more than 66,000 routes in Europe and North America, providing over 30 types of rail passes for travel in 35 countries.

Launched in conjunction with rail ticket provider International Rail, the site features real-time reservations and next day delivery of tickets, online tracking, maps and timetables.

International Rail European marketing director Omid Golshan said: “We are delighted that OctopusTravel has chosen to work with International Rail to provide this new service for their customers. We are looking forward to a successful relationship especially at this time when rail travel is growing in popularity and becoming an integral part of many holidays and short breaks.”

Vivi Moody, Octopus head of services content, said: “We are happy to be able to offer such an extensive rail product through our relationship with International Rail to complement the global breadth of our accommodation product and additional services such as transfers and sightseeing tours.”
