On Holiday inks further deal with Freedom Travel

Monday, 24 Nov, 2010 0

On Holiday Group is to move the remaining part of its consumer direct operations to Freedom Group.

The move, says On Holiday chief executive officer Steve Endacott, shows a “vote of confidence” in the booking agent and comes ten months after OHG put Freedom in charge of its call centre business.

Freedom Group is part of the Co-operative Group which announced its merger Thomas Cook in October.

Endacott said: “We have been extremely pleased with the seamless way Freedom handled the transfer of our call centre business. Being part of a larger retail consortium has allowed us to reduce credit card clearance costs and access a cost effective ATOL scheme, whilst allowing us to remain independent and flexible about what we sell.”

He went on to say that the merger news was potentially good news for OHG.

He said: “As long as we continue to deal with the same management team, I can only see positives from the merger, since it gives the group greater scale and buying power which we can all benefit from.”
