With today marking the start of the 12-month countdown until the 2012 Olympic Games, British Airways has unveiled a special aircraft carrying the message 'One Year to Go' on its belly.

Olympic Gold medalist Denise Lewis unveiled the aircraft at London City Airport.

See video footage on TravelMole's homepage.

The specially branded Airbus A318 (BA001) departs to New York daily and will fly past the Olympic Park en route with the inspiring message.

Meanwhile, Seb Coe, Colin Jackson and other athletes will be joining Eurostar in their celebrations.

They will be rolling up their trousers and taking their socks off to have their foot prints cast in clay at St Pancras International.
