Online bookings soar as Monarch carryings rise
Monarch saw March passenger numbers on scheduled services rise by 30% year-on-year.
Online bookings via the airline’s website www.flymonarch.com increased by a claimed 118% in Match against the same month last year. The site saw a 70% increase in the number of visitors.
A total of 234,287 people used the airline’s low cost services to destinations in Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar, compared to 180,840 passengers in March 2005.
March also saw the launch of Monarch’s latest route from Manchester to Mahon, the only low cost carrier offering direct flights to Menorca from the north west airport.
